Terry joined the next month and was quickly joined by other new members of staff. The demand for handmade toys from recycled materials just seemed to keep growing and growing and soon more and more people were joining Toni’s Team. Alison continued to provide adhoc support as and when required. She also helped Toni implement HR software to make sure all her employee information was kept in a secure way and to enable her staff to book holidays and record absences themselves.
At a regular follow up meeting, Alison and Toni got together. Toni felt that now the business was growing she would like more proactive HR support. They agreed that Alison would assist with recruiting new staff, as Toni was finding that she no longer could find good people through her own network, and wanted help with advertising, shortlisting and interviewing.
Toni also felt that she would like to provide a training programme for one of her members of staff that she wanted to promote to workshop supervisor. Alison and Toni discussed this, and they agreed that the supervisor would require training in agreeing and setting objectives with the employees, how to support and coach the other staff and how to give and receive feedback. Alison put together an on-the-job training and development plan for the Supervisor, which included ongoing coaching during the first 6 months in her new role.
At meeting just last week, Toni mentioned that she was delighted with the support from Align People HR, and how critical it had been to grow her business so far. She was looking forward to the partnership for years to come as she could make her beloved toys forever.
